Getting Excited For Fall!

Wow, is it really September 1st? I think between our cross country road trip, wedding planning, and my new job, this summer just flew by without me noticing. It’s official – Fall is coming!

Things I love about Fall:

  • Football! (pro and college – Let’s Go Eagles!)
  • Hoodies
  • My birthday (October 15)
  • Our annual apple picking trip for my birthday
  • Good tours start again (currently I have tickets for Mates of State, Jimmy Eat World, the annual Big D and the Kids Table Halloween show, Saves The Day/Say Anything/Motion City Soundtrack, and Reel Big Fish/Aquabats)
  • Crunchy leaves
  • Brisk walks
  • No more air conditioning (it bothers my sinuses and allergies all summer)
  • Related: Leaving the windows open 24/7
  • Baking like a crazy person (does anyone else go in to pastry chef mode?)

Things I don’t particularly love about Fall:

  • Work gets crazy busy (that’s Higher Ed. for ya)
  • No more Farmer’s Markets
  • The SoWa Open Market closes until next summer
  • Daylight Savings Time (and how hard it becomes to get up in the morning when it’s dark)

There are a bunch of specific things I’m looking forward to this Fall too: Labor Day Weekend (we’re camping in a yurt!), another wedding dress fitting, Matt & Danielle’s wedding in Seattle, my dad’s coming to visit for a week, the annual Fluff Festival in Union Square, my birthday fun, Thanksgiving in Syracuse, a mini trip up to Burlington, VT in November, and we’re planning a little getaway to Montreal in December.

What are you favorite, and not so favorite, things about Fall?

Higher Ed + Fall Semester = DEATH. I feel you dude.

Oh man, I’m so excited for fall, too. Obviously our wedding is pretty darn exciting, then our trip right after to Boston will be great. I can’t wait to go back to Boston College, spend time in Boston itself (I never get to do this when I’m home in Boston since I’m in Abington spending time with family and friends)… I’m excited for Matt to spend time in my hometown as well, though, since when we both lived in Boston and were together, all of our time was spent at BC or Commonwealth Ave. and that general area.

I’m excited for our annual pumpkin patch trip that we make every year.. getting lost in the massive corn maze, slinging pumpkins into a field, eating lots of delicious food, picking out the perfect pumpkins, buying fresh kettle corn to take home… I love going so much with a big group of friends every year.

I’m excited to see Mumford & Sons; it’s going to be an amazing show in October. I’m excited to carve pumpkins. I’m excited to go all out for Halloween this year in terms of decorations, since we have the house now. We’ll have lots of trick or treaters for the first time! I think we may even have to dress the dogs up in costumes, too, (though I may be nice and spare them the embarrassment, haha).

I’m excited for the little things: being married after 2 1/2 years of engagement, using our hot tub on cold, rainy nights, enjoying not planning a wedding anymore, homemade apple crisp, Thanksgiving, my birthday (and a huge YES for hoodies!).. I love fall!

However, I don’t like waking up when it’s dark out, the rain in the mornings can be annoying for my commute, and people start to drive beyond slow because of the rain so I’m thinking the commute is going to be a bit longer.

The pros are much better than the cons though so I can’t wait. 🙂
